Making garments and accessories with your own beautifully woven fabric can be fulfiling and fun. Learn to create original designs and follow patterns and diagrams. Discover techniques that will make cutting your woven fabric less stressful and sewing more enjoyable.
Don't have enough of your own woven fabric on hand? We will have looms available if you need to weave extra on site as well as woven yardage you can purchase.
This workshop will consist of 4 designing/sewing/creating days, 1 day on the road in northern New Mexico to experience fiber traditions unique to the area and 1 free day to tour Santa Fe on your own with a complimentary Culture Pass for entrance to museums and other sites.

Join us for a unique fiber getaway in the legendary artist mecca of the Southwest. Weaving on your choice of a Mirrix or walking loom, we will learn various weaving techniques including curves, geometric designs and landscapes creating various shapes and color blending. Learning these techniques enables the weaver to create many styles of tapestry including pictorials, abstract or traditional design. You will come away with a completed tapestry, not just a sampler. This very personalized class is suitable for all levels of weaving experience, even beginners.

With Lorna McMaster of Prince Edward Island
Lorna McMaster has been breeding fiber sheep, working in wool, and teaching fiber art since 1997. She is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsman and the PEI Craft Council, and has received several awards for her felt work. Her felted dolls have appeared in several galleries in New England and PEI, and her business, Lorna’s Wool Needle Felting Kits, have taught thousands of people to needlefelt since 2006. Lorna is the author of several instructional books including Woolworks: Teaching to the National Standardswith Fiber Arts; Nature Notebook: The Art of Learning to See; and Dancing with Sheepdogs: A Beginner’s Guide to Herding. She currently owns and operates a
working organic sheep farm in Pembroke, Prince Edward Island.
